Voor wie het mist: in 24 november in Rotterdam the best of the Amsterdam Storytelling festival en in mei in Utrecht.
Op hun site staat de volgende achtergrond informatie: The Amsterdam Storytelling Festival was founded in 2008 by Arjen Barel and Marlies ter Haar. The first editions took place at the NDSM-Werf: all the stories were told on ships. It was an incredible location, despite the fact that every now and then a spectator or performer had to leave because of being seasick…
In the years that followed the festival has spread out through the city and became an internationally known storytelling festival. In 2017 the festival found a new ‘home’ in Podium Mozaïek: a metropolitan theatre with café-restaurant in Amsterdam West. Mozaïek welcomes on its stages all possible genres, from dance performances to spoken word, coming from home and abroad, which fits perfectly with the ideals of the festival.
After ten years it was time to pass on the baton to a new artistic direction. Raphael Rodan and Sahand Sahebdivani – two ‘brothers’ of Israeli and Iranian descent and big names in the storytelling scene, presented in 2018 a festival with a new look and feel, under the theme of Brotherhood. They surprised us with a stimulating program: from young talent to established storytellers — everyone got a stage. There was also an exciting side program with talks and workshops. The festival was received enthusiastically, and most of the shows were sold out.
The 2019 edition of the festival with the theme Addiction will last for 5 days in Podium Mozaïek. Besides that, there is a massive satellite program in the weeks before and after. This year we start with some teasers in OBA, after the Festival in Podium Mozaïek there are best of shows in Mezrab and the Tolhuistuin and after that we will leave town! Rotterdam and Utrecht, here we come.
